Three people detained three counties away in connection to Tradition shooting - WPEC

A 27-year-old man was shot three times while in his driveway early Wednesday morning off Southwest Stockton Place. It happened in the Town Park at Tradition community, a gated neighborhood, which the suspect or suspects bypassed by simply driving around the gate onto the grass.

The victim, whose identity was not provided in a Thursday news release, was airlifted to Lawnwood hospital after being shot and has since been treated and released. Later Wednesday evening, in a separate county from where the shooting took place, the Broward Sheriff's Office found the suspect vehicle, a 2018 Kia Optima, after a be on the lookout (BOLO) was dispersed to surrounding agencies.

Three occupants were detained.

Two of those individuals were charged in Broward County on unrelated charges to the shooting. Port St. Lucie Police department (PSLPD) detectives interviewed each person and seized the suspect vehicle until a search warrant can be executed on it, a news release said.

Additional information on the three people's identities were not available.

Investigators determined Wednesday the shooter approached the 27-year-old man on foot, fired then ran, according to the news release. The victim was not a local rap star, which was speculated on social media.

It was determined the shooting was an isolated, targeted act of violence, and the public was not in any danger, officials said.

The investigation is still active, and an increased police presence will be in the area. The PSLPD is asking anyone who may have audio or video of the incident to contact police at 772-871-5000 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-8477.
