15 Alabamians charged in connection with Panama City Beach riot during Spring Break - AL.com

Fifteen people -- all Alabamians -- were charged in connection with the March riot at a Panama City Beach Walmart during Spring Break instigated by two social media influencers, authorities said Wednesday.

The suspects -- all Alabama residents and ranging in age from 17 to 37 -- face a slew of charges that include inciting a riot, felony criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and theft during the March 26 riot at the Panama City Beach Walmart at 10270 Front Road, said Police Chief Eusebio Talamantez.

Hundreds of people flocked to Panama City Beach that weekend at the urging of the influencers -- identified by police as 20-year-old Troy resident Demarion Ty’Quan Cooper and Rashad Boyce Glasper, 25, of Wetumpka -- and gathered at the Walmart parking lot.

Cooper and Glasper were arrested and charged with inciting a riot in April.

The group overturned shopping carts, raked items off the shelves and intimidated Walmart employees and other shoppers, police said.

Some destroyed parts of the store and stole items in shoplifting incidents captured on surveillance video.

The day after the Walmart riot, an Alabama man was injured in a shooting in Panama City Beach.
